• ARTIST PROFILES • OUR CRAFTMAKER PROFILE is HILLTOP, in Kent, England Owners: Bill & Sue Chitty Hilltop is a specialist textile craft supplier, selling materials and equipment for weavers, spinners, dyers, feltmakers, and silk painters. Owners Bill and Sue Chitty have been in business for 11 years supplying fleeces, fibres, dyes, yarns, spinning wheels, looms, and many other supplies and accessories. Hilltop also offers a whole range of courses. Their offerings include one-to-one instruction in: Dyeing, Feltmaking, Spinning, and Weaving. Other courses can be arranged for instruction in Braiding and Silk Painting.   Fleece Dyeing Workshop               Intermediate Weaving Workshop         Basic Weaving Workshop All courses are designed for you around what you would like to learn, and are for any level of ability, from absolute beginner to very experienced. One example of how Hilltop is eager to tailor courses to fit you, is a course that is designed for those who want to learn how to weave, but can’t make up their mind which loom is right for them. In that case, Sue will set up at least 3 different looms for you to weave on for 2-3 hours, helping you to make a decision. Courses take place at Bill and Sue’s home in the village of Lyminge in southeast England. Their fee for one-to-one tuition is £10.00 per hour, whatever the subject. Most courses last from 4 hours to 2 days. All equipment is provided, along with the necessary materials. If an overnight stay is in order, they are happy to make arrangements for you to stay in local guest houses, all of which are registered with the local tourist authority.
