Friday 26 Sept.    Overnight Edinburgh
Arrive EdinburghAirport where our group will converge. From there, our driver will take us to Stirling Castle for a private, behind the scenes tour of the tapestry restoration project with the senior weaver, and we’ll have time to tour the castle which is being restored to its’ former glory. We’ll enjoy an independent lunch there, then it’s off to Edinburgh. Continue on to our hotel in Edinburgh. Rest of the day and evening at your leisure.
We’ll share a welcome drink at our hotel.

Saturday 27 Sept.    Overnight Edinburgh
Visits: Moondance Farm
near Eyemouth, followed by a short drive to the nearby scenic town of St. Abbs for an independent lunch and time for exploring the shops including Woolfish.  Then it’s back to Edinburgh for some independent sightseeing in the afternoon. After a Welcome Dinner we’ll enjoy our own private trunk show and talk by knitting designer and textile artist Ruth Lee. Ruth will stay overnight with us in Edinburgh so we’ll have loads of time to ask questions, share stories and be inspired by this wonderfully creative artist.

Sunday 28 Sept.    OvernightEdinburgh
Visits:
Today we’ll drive up to Perth for the annual gathering of Scottish Guilds of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers. This day will be full of excitement and loads of opportunities to meet fellow fiber fanatics. The vendor market will offer us a chance to purchase yarns from the farm, locally crafted tools, etc. More on this event closer to our departure . Independent dinner this evening.

Monday 29 Sept.    Overnight Near Paisley
Visits: New Lanark, World Heritage Site
– private behind the scenes tour of this beautifully restored 18th C cotton mill village, a sort of utopian village when Robert Owen was the mill manager from 1800-1825. Allan Barraclough , our guide at New Lanark, is in charge of the spinning operation today and is responsible for re-assembling the equipment and making it a viable wool spinning operation that you see today.  Lunch at New Lanark. Then it’s off to the village of Paisley for a visit to the PaisleyMuseum and a look at possibly the best collection of paisley shawls in the world today.  Then to our hotel and independent dinner. Early start on Tuesday as we take the ferry to Isle of Arran.

Tuesday 30 Sept.   Overnight Brodick, Isle of Arran
Visits & Activities:
˝ day fiber workshops with Lynn Gray Ross each of our 4 days on Arran. Afternoons will be spent exploring the beauty of the island, historical sites, gathering inspiration for our workshop projects. Also, we will explore the food and drink of the island, meeting some of the fascinating producers. We will enjoy one specially selected dinner featuring the local produce of the island.

Saturday 4 Oct.    Overnight Grasmere
Visits:
Ferry from Isle of Arran back to mainland. We’ll journey south to Rhonehouse and a visit with basketmaker Lizzie Farey. Then down into the Lake District with a stop at The Wool Clip, a co-operative founded in 2001 and currently made up of 15 women, which showcases their wool & mohair yarns, textiles and fiber art.  Then it’s off to our home for the next 4 nights, White Moss House the former home of William Wordsworth. Independent dinner this evening.

Sunday 5 Oct.    Overnight Grasmere
Visits:
While in the Lake District we will visit Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop Farm, small farms owned by members of The Wool Clip; Farfield Mill Arts and Heritage Centre in Sedbergh; food and fiber shops in Yorkshire and the Lake District.

Visits: Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop Farm, farm & fiber visit at Patterdale,
sightseeing including Castlerigg Stone Circle. Specially selected dinnerthis evening.

Visits: Yorkshire sightseeing, fiber & food shops.

Wednesday 8 Oct.   Overnight York
Visits:
You will have time to explore York at your leisure. I will provide a list of shops and places of interest. Of particular interest to some will be the Quilt Museum & Gallery, new home of the Quilters Guild of the British Isles.

Thursday 9 Oct.    Overnight London
Visits:
Leaving York by train down to London. We will be in the great city for 3 nights, our hotel located very near to Covent Garden, the BritishMuseum, and the West End theater district. While in London we will attend the Knitting & Stitching Show at AlexandraPalace and the UK Craft Council’s amazing show called Origins. I will provide a shop list to help you in your shopping and exploring pleasure.

independent sightseeing as you like.

Visits: Origins Craft Fair, farewell dinner in the evening.
